Student Affairs Presents Annual DSA Awards

The Division of Student Affairs (DSA) recently held its annual awards ceremony at the Joe Rosenfield ’25 Center with an event that Vice President of Student Affairs JC Lopez calls “uplifting.”

The DSA Awards are presented each year at the end of April to formally celebrate the many contributions that select students, faculty, and staff make to ensure the well-being and success of students at 51app. Any DSA staff member can submit a nomination, and a committee made up of DSA staff reviews the nominations and selects the winners. A committee chooses the winner of the John Pfitsch Award, which includes a $5,000 monetary prize. Recipients of DSA awards receive a crystal trophy.

At the ceremony, Lopez says, “We had tears of joy and smiles, offices coming to support recipients, and the soccer team present to support teammates.”

  • Student Award for Excellence in Service to Students and Student Affairs — Essi Adokou ’25 (nominated by Student Involvement)

  • Student Award for Excellence in Service to Students and Student Affairs — Sophie Delaney ’25 (nominated by Residence Life)

  • Nancy Schmulbach Maly ’61 International Student Leadership Award — Parikshit Roychowdhury ’26 (Office of International Student Affairs [OISA] Award)

  • Fischlowitz Travel Fellowship Award — Chikako Inoue ’26 (Saitama, Japan) (OISA Award)

  • John Pfitsch Endowed Memorial Prize — Evan Larson ’25 (men’s soccer team)

  • Faculty/Staff Award for Excellence in Service to Students and Student Affairs — Bailey Asberry (director of professional development and Title IX coordinator)

  • Award For Exemplary Service in Student Affairs — Mary Perkins (residence life coordinator)

  • Student Affairs Recognition “Essential Piece of the Puzzle” — Terry Mason (Dean for Student Health and Wellness)
